Asthma Emergency Department Visits: Volume and Median Length of Stay

This indicator provides the number of emergency department (ED) visits and median length of stay (in minutes) for asthma. The length of stay is the time elapsed from the patient's registration to the time he or she physically leaves the ED.

Caregiver Distress

This indicator provides the percentage of long-stay home care clients whose unpaid caregivers experience distress in a 1-year period.

Death at Home or in Community

​​This indicator provides the percentage of Canadians who die at home or in the community each year.

Has a Regular Health Care Provider

This indicator provides the percentage of the population that reported having a regular health care provider, including a family doctor or general practitioner, a medical specialist or a nurse practitioner. Higher percentages are desirable.

Hip Fracture Surgery Within 48 Hours

This indicator calculates the risk-adjusted proportion of hip fractures surgically treated within 48 hours of a patient’s initial admission to an acute care hospital, among patients age 18 and older.
