Bio
Mr. Martin Haynes is 1 of 2 members representing the Atlantic (Region 5) on CIHI’s Board of Directors. He is currently the chief strategy officer at Medavie, a group of companies with its head office in New Brunswick but operating nationally, with locations in 8 provinces involved in health insurance and health care delivery and a related charitable foundation.
In his role, Mr. Haynes has responsibility for strategy management and corporate performance; government business relations and business development; and strategic partnerships for the organization.
Mr. Haynes joined Medavie in 1995 and has held a series of executive roles with the company, including being responsible for leading the delivery of services to all federal and provincial government and workers’ compensation board customers; for board, governance, legal, regulatory and compliance functions; and for risk management, communications, provider relations and human resources.
He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has worked in consulting and audit in Canada and the United Kingdom. He is a graduate of the Directors Education Program and holds the ICD.D designation. He is a member of a number of professional organizations and associations, including the Institute of Corporate Directors, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Mr. Haynes has previously served on the boards of several companies, including LearnSphere Canada Inc., and of various community organizations in Greater Moncton.
