Virtual care: Impact of COVID-19 on physician practice patterns

March 24, 2022 — To reduce the spread of COVID-19, physicians in Canada have offered virtual care appointments where possible. Beyond the pandemic, virtual care remains a significant mode of delivery and has implications on the future of physician activity, including billing rules and technologies permitted for virtual services.

Use the snapshot report to explore trends in physicians’ uptake of virtual care between April 2019 and March 2021 in provinces where CIHI is able to identify its use (Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia). To learn more, download the data tables.
